Firstly, welcome to Tony Chiang, who started with us this week. Tony is an IT specialist who will be developing much of the software that will make ACES tick. Tony has settled in nicely. Bringing nice biscuits on your first day is always a great idea.
This week I want to introduce a new area of ACES that we have not announced previously. This component has been keeping me personally busy this week.
Harmonised SOA Templates – ACES Phase 2
In its second phase, ACES will provide a suite of harmonised SOAs (that is, SOAs which all have the same graphical presentation, style etc) addressing 100 or so common client presentations. The SOAs can be downloaded as Word documents with your details and logo pre-filled. The SOAs will also make use of our in-house software to make sure that any coloured text within the document matches the colours in your logo.
The suite of SOAs is searchable, using search terms like the age and/or time of life for your client, as well, of course, as the area of advice.
Once you have downloaded the template it is yours to adjust as you see fit. The initial format will be compliant, and from the point of view of our review team, this will help with turnaround: any changes you make can be tracked and so the review team will be able to identify the specific changes that you have made and review them for compliance. They won’t have to read through unchanged material that has previously been reviewed. For that reason, we want to have as many specific SOAs as possible so that you have to modify them as little as possible.
The aim of this is simple: to help you spend as little time as possible on things like merely documenting your advice. This will allow you more time to see more clients and/or to see the same clients more. More work is simply the only way to respond to the substantial impact that the LIF reforms will entail.
By the way, industry prognostications have LIF become operational any time from October this year to July next year. The only thing for certain is that Parliament reconvened this week. Hopefully, the changes will be delayed for as long as possible, but we really want all of our advisers to be able to thrive in the post-LIF environment.
At this stage, you can help both yourself and the project by nominating specific types of advice that you would like to see as a template. Simply shoot me an email, perhaps with your best attempt at an SOA yourself attached, highlighting what you would like a template to cover.
[UPDATE JANUARY 2017: THE HARMONISED SOAs WILL BE ROLLED OUT IN MARCH 2017.]
If you do not have a logo, let us know. ACES can do these for you, too.
Website order form
Thank you to all those people who have let us know that they want a website. We have developed an online order system for such sites: http://aces.dover.com.au/get-started/
That page asks for all the details we need to get cracking on a site for you, including places for you to upload testimonials, etc. So, if you would like to have us develop a website before the ACES program is fully up and running (and before you have to start paying!), click on that link and follow the prompts.
