Just a short update this week, as we are all head down working away at ACES. I haven’t seen my family for months. They are loving it.

Thank you to all those people who have let us know that they want a website. We have developed an online order system for such sites: http://aces.dover.com.au/get-started/
That page asks for all the details we need to get cracking on a site for you, including places for you to upload testimonials, etc. So, if you would like to have us develop a website before the ACES program is fully up and running (and before you have to start paying!), click on that link and follow the prompts.
Adviser referral network – nominating specialities
Please also send through your bio for use on the adviser referral network. Remember, the bio is used internally by other Dover advisers, so pitch it to that market.
Please also nominate one or two areas of work in which you have a special capacity, as that is the work that you are most likely to receive a referral for. We are limiting these nominations to just two areas, as the early bios included a lot of advisers who were saying they specialise in everything. These bios were taken from your own websites, and the idea of telling the whole world that you can do anything they need is fine – in fact, it is what ACES is facilitating for you. But for the internal system we need people to be more specific.
As a guide, other advisers are unlikely to refer bread and butter work such as risk or super. Think of things that other advisers are more likely to need your help with. Things like ‘business succession’ is much more likely to be of interest to another adviser.
We are also asking you to nominate up to four specific client types with whom you work well. Again, be as specific as possible and be wary of nominating everyone’s dream client, as this won’t be of much interest to referrers. Nominating people from a particular industry in which you have experience is a better way to go – if I was doing it myself I might nominate psychologists as I know their situations really well (especially handsome, well-read psychologists with winning smiles).
You too might think of your own past experience when nominating clients with whom you will work particularly effectively.

Finally, for today, remember that there is no upper limit to what ACES can and will provide. So, if there is something that you think the program would do especially well, or something that is holding your practice back and you can’t quite crack a solution for it, let us know.
